The city of Pasadena is one of the oldest cities in Los Angeles County.  It was incorporated on June 19, 1886.  It was the fourth city in Los Angeles to incorporate, after Santa Ana and Anaheim, which were both part of Los Angeles County at the time, before becoming part of what is now Orange County.  Pasadena is the seventh largest city in Los Angeles County, and has a population of over 137,000, and is predominantly Caucasian. 

Pasadena is most famously known for its Tournament of Roses Parade, which is held every new year’s day.  The parade features floats made up entirely of roses.  Aside from hosting the Rose Parade, Pasadena plays host to the Rose Bowl every early January, which traditionally pitted the Pac-10 football champion against the Big Ten football champion.  However, due to the modern BCS selection procedures, the Bowl game has the potential to host different schools.  The Rose Bowl stadium occasionally plays host to college football’s National Championship Game, featuring the top two teams in the BCS standings.  During the regular college football season, the University of California Los Angeles Bruins calls the Rose Bowl its home.
