Moreno Valley, California is located in Riverside County and has the nickname of “MoVal.”  It is relatively young community, as it was incorporated in only 1984.  Moreno Valley is a rapidly growing community.  As of the most recent census in 2010, Moreno Valley has a population of 193,365.  It’s large population makes Moreno Valley the second largest city (by population) in Riverside County.  It’s population also makes it the 21^st most populous city in California, and 119^th most populous in the entire United States.  Moreno Valley’s population is very diverse, and is about 50% Latino or Hispanic.

Moreno Valley was home to March Field, which became a full Air Force Base in 1927.  The presence of the Air Force base aided in the city’s development and growth.  However, now the March Field is primarily a Reserve Base.  Attempts have been made to make it a major, commercial airport, but nothing has come to fruition.   In addition, Moreno Valley has been home to some professional athletes such as Troy Percival (retired pitcher, formerly with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim) and Ryan Madson (Pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies).
