Anaheim is the oldest and most populated city in Orange County, California. It was founded
by fifty German families, who specialized in grape farming and wine making, in 1857 and was
incorporated in 1870. Anaheim stands for Annahome, which means “home in the valley” in
German. As of the 2010 census it has a population of 336,365 people making it the 10th most
populated city in California. Anaheim is also second to Irvine as the largest city by land area in
Orange County.

Anaheim is most famous for its themes parks and attractions. Anaheim is home to the world
famous Disneyland Resort and California Adventure Theme Park as well as the Angel Stadium,
the Honda Center, and the Anaheim Convention Center. The Disneyland Theme Park was
constructed in 1954 and opened its doors to the public only a year later in 1955. Initially, press
reviews of Disneyland were unkind claiming the park was untidy. However, Disneyland proved
a success and after only seven weeks since its opening, the park invited its one-millionth guest.
In fact, by the park’s ten year anniversary in 1965, the park had already attracted nearly fifty
million visitors.

Today, Disneyland attracts millions of visitors from around the world each year and is Orange
County’s most popular tourist destination. Many Orange County residents also enjoy the park’s
annual pass program giving them access to visit the park at their leisure over the course of a year.
